Yesterday I saw Wreck it Ralph. I couldn't convince Jay to go because it just wasn't his thing.
I thought it was too freaking adorable. I loved all the little nods to all the other games, like Street Fighter and Super Mario Bros. On that note, I should mention that I nearly had to murder Jay for this comment: "Who's Bowser?"
Seriously?!?
Anyway... The use of pixelated graphics was cute and who doesn't love Jane Lynch as the bad ass ball buster? It was just oodles of fun.
Today Jay took me to see A Good Day to Die Hard and Warm Bodies. It was a late Valentine's Day treat.
Neither of us were terribly impressed with the latest installment of Die Hard. Lots of explosions and gunfire but very little in the way of story. Not enough back story, not enough character development, not enough humor. Even the parts that were obviously meant to be funny weren't.
Warm Bodies, on the other hand, had everything: humor, romance, action, and pathos.
It was exactly what someone who read and loved the book (that's me) would have wanted. I don't think it was exactly what Jay was expecting, though. But, hey... I can't be blamed if he refuses to read, can I?
