Movie Review: Autumn Dreams

Autumn Dreams is another sappy Hallmark movie I watched, looking for the next perfect addition to my Best Films for Autumn list. And... it's another one that didn't make the cut.

This one wasn't as corny as the last one. The acting wasn't as over the top but it was a bit on the wooden side. The story, on the other hand, was stronger. It was a good, solid (if unoriginal) story.

Autumn Dreams tells the story of two high school sweethearts, Anabelle and Ben, who elope the night of their town's harvest festival. Their dreams of running away together end when Anabelle's father shows up and convinces Ben that Anabelle will have a better life without him in it.

Fast forward fifteen years. Anabelle and Ben had their marriage annuled by post and they're both about to marry other people - until they realize the annulment was never actually completed and they're still married.

Awkward!

Well, you can guess where it goes from there...

This is a good movie with a good plot and, unfortunately, some mediocre acting. I enjoyed it. Yes, it's cheesy as hell. It's Hallmark. But, Autumn Dreams the kind of cheesy movie you need when you've had a bad day and you're hiding under the duvet with a pint of ice cream.

It's not the kind of movie that makes me think of autumn. We'll try again tomorrow.
